The château was built between 1751 and 1757 for Jean-Baptiste Molé, president of the Paris Parliament, who had just married the daughter of Samuel Bernard, “the kings’ banker” (Louis XIV and Louis XV). Jean-Michel Chevotet, a famous architect at the time, was commissioned to design the château. Champlâtreux is a perfect example of French classical architecture, stately but without excess, and designed specifically for receptions and celebrations. |
